Maria Rotger
Hello, I’m a seasoned translator and linguist proficient in English, Spanish, and Catalan.
My expertise includes subtitles, stage and screenplays, legal documents, and gastronomy.
As a dedicated trilingual award-winning screenwriter, subtitler, translator, and author, after working for twelve years as a senior managing editor, linguistic project manager, and multilingual teams trainer in my own language services provider company, I decided to focus on my expertise as an English, Spanish, and Catalan translator, subtitler, and editor. I’m particularly dedicated to stage and screenplays, audiovisual products, legal documents, and gastronomy projects while centered on presenting my own creative work.

MY SYSTEM
Over the years, I’ve learned that the most fruitful work is team-based. That’s why my system always includes the contribution of the competent associates I choose for every project among a selected group I trust.
As you know, translation involves the process of converting text from one language to another while retaining its meaning and context. Any translation service worth its salt must include localization to tailor the narrative to the target audience while keeping in mind the original objective.
Find below how this process works in my business, SIGNEWORDS.
WORK SYSTEM
Request and Analysis
A client or organization needing translation services submits a request. At the outset, I always analyze the needs of each project not only to build a free quote but also to set up the work.
Selection of Associates
Among my selected group of skillful associates, I single out the best one to help me draw up and review each translation. My choice is based on the required language pair and subject matter expertise.
Payment
To confirm the job, the client pays the free quote if they agree with it or 50% to approve it and 50% before the delivery. With ongoing clients, they can opt to pay 50% at the delivery.
Translation and Localization
I work on converting and localizing the text from the source language to the target language. Accuracy, clarity, and cultural sensitivity are the most critical aspects to guarantee.
Editing and Proofreading
My associates and I edit and review the translation for quality and consistency. Proofreading is done to catch any errors, typos, or linguistic issues.
Quality Assurance
Working as a team, we can discuss questions, find solutions, and ultimately see more with four eyes than two. This quality assurance process ensures the final translation meets the highest standards.
Delivery
The translated content is delivered to the client.
Feedback and Revisions
Clients may provide feedback, and revisions are made as needed during the days after the delivery.
Project Management
I’ve been a project manager and a coordinator of a team of project managers for twelve years. Now I’m the project manager for my translation jobs. In this role, I oversee the entire process, ensuring deadlines are met, and the project runs smoothly.
Tools and Technology
I use professional computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools that help me maintain consistency and efficiency. It’s important to have these tools, especially in ongoing projects.
